Ben Hinks sails into Pennington R-6

Pennington R-6 enjoyed hearing from Ben Hinks, a fabulous young sailor. This is what the students had to say…

All students have participated in the Be Active assembly on Thursday week 6. We started the assembly with our school song and after that Mark Williams introduced Ben Hinks who has been in the sport of sailing for 13 years. He had made a presentation for all students so they could be introduced to the sport of sailing. Ben also did some mountain biking for about 7 years. He explained the rules of sailing and explained how to go faster in the race. He explained how hard the sport was because of how the weather can affect the sport. The teacher picked two students to demonstrate how hiking (a term used in sailing) works on stage. The presentation ended by Ben answering questions and thanking everyone for their listening. The presentation allowed students to learn a lot more about sailing and how to get into the sport of sailing.
